ACTIVITIES

Meetings

The club holds its meetings on the last Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m., except for December.
Non-members are always welcome. We encourage visitors, who may attend the meetings free of charge, in order to determine whether they would like to join.

As part of our club activities, we organise turning competitions, raffles and quizzes in the newsletter

At the end of each club session there is a democratic meeting of all the attending members. This is to decide policy, make any decisions and debate relevant issues. All members have an equal voice and an equal vote.

Demonstrations

The main feature of each meeting is a demonstration of woodturning or some related wood-craft. This is normally given by a guest, invited to share the interesting aspects of their craft.

We are always interested in hearing from new demonstrators. If you would like to share your skills or ideas in a lively club forum, please contact our Secretary.

Club Outings

The club arranges coach trips to the national woodworking shows and other places of interest. All members are free to suggest venues for club visits. The most recent trips have been to visit the Ashley Isles factory in Lincolnshire and Record Power Tools in Sheffield. Our Publicity Officer usually manages to arrange for discounted tickets.

Shows and Exhibitions

The club is invited to provide a display stand of members work at various shows and exhibitions. Display space on these stands is open to all members, regardless of their level of skill.

Along with a display of their work, our members try to give a live demonstration of woodturning if the circumstances allow this.

For reports on the individual shows, see Show Reports.

Postcard from

This section is designed to enable any member to post a "postcard" or item for others to see. The content can be anything the person considers to be of interest, but preferably wood related.
It might be about an interesting craft show, a gallery worthy of a visit or a good supplier, in fact almost anything.
Anybody wishing to send a postcard can submit the information by email to Robert, or bring it to a meeting.
The copy does not have to be perfect, as it can be tidied up when it is coded. Click below for your choice of Postcard.
